With a history dating back to pre-Hispanic Mexico when the Natives would mine gold and silver to pay tribute to their Aztec Rulers, Taxco, a state in Guerrero Mexico, has always been a rich source for precious metals.

The history of the Taxco silver jewelry we all know began in the 1920s, a year after Mexico's  War For Independence from the Spanish colonizers was won.  William Spratling, a US professor, lived as a writer in Taxco and became a great admirer of the local artistry and jewelry craftsmanship.  He aided the locals in reopening the mines and began an apprenticeship program in silversmithing, encouraging the artists to pull from their Mayan and Aztec heritage.  Spratling pulled together the best creations of authentic handmade Mexican jewelry being produced. Taxco is still rich with talented silversmiths producing jewelry today.

Measured on a ring sizer, US size 6.5.
3mm wide band at the back.
The rose ring face measures approximately 13mm diameter.
6.3 grams total weight.

Minor tarnish to the silver.
