Trifari - Crown Trifari
One of the most well known names in costume jewelry history is Crown Trifari. Through a long and changing history, Trifari jewelry maintained the highest quality yet affordable costume jewelry available.
Trifari and Trifari was first founded in the United states in 1910 by Gustavo Trifari, who had recently moved with his Uncle from Italy where they had been designing jewelry. It was after his Uncle left the business that it was shortened to Trifari.
In 1925 Leo Krussman and Carl Fishel joined the company with the name now changed to Trifari, Krussman, and Fishel, but still being recognized as just Trifari. Their jewelry became known as Crown Trifari after a change in their logo adding the Crown above the T. This was inspired by one of their most recognized designers, Alfred Philippe, and his line of Crown brooches popular through the 1950s.
Some of Trifari’s most collectible pieces remain their faux cabochon jewels of India collection, their lucite jelly belly brooches and of course the highly sought after pieces by designer Alfred Philippe.
